Southwold Swimming Club

Competition Training For All Ages

**Celebrating 50 years of Southwold Swimming Club**

General Competition Information

The Club offers many opportunities for competing from a young age. Young swimmers need to compete frequently to gain experience and confidence. We have internal Club competitions like the Club Championships and Founder's Gala that all club members can compete in. We also attend a variety of local evening galas as a team which swimmers selected for, these are usually on a Saturday evening. We also compete in the National Arena Swimming League (formally Speedo League) and Southern Junior League.

The more individual events are the Open Meets and Championships. These usually require swimmers to meet qualifying standards to compete. We attend a range of open meets as a Club, see the calendar, and swimmers should enter these if they meet the qualifying times. They are graded by licence level so there should be Open Meets for most standards. The "Championship" events we enter range from the Gloucester County Championships which are held in Jan-Mar each year, the South West Region Championships, and the National Championships. These are obviously tiered with the National Championships having the toughest entry times and being for the very best swimmers. More detail on each type of competition is accessible from the menu on the right.
